In order to encourage schools and colleges to continually improve their teaching, scholarly and creative activities, and service, Temple University implemented Periodic Program Review (PPR) in 2003 as a regular process.
Periodic Program Review at Temple University consists of three components:
- Self-study
- External review
- Plan for improvement

Schedule
Academic programs are reviewed every seven years with the aims of:
- Assessing what programs do
- Clarifying rationales for teaching, research, and service missions
- Reviewing indicators of quality and student outcomes
- Establishing action plans for improvement
