I am delighted to announce that, following our search, we have selected Sharmayne Burns, assistant dean for administration at the Beasley School of Law, to be our new vice provost for finance and administration. Beginning on November 1, Sharmayne will join the provost’s team and, due to the complexity and scope of the role, will work on a phased transition with Bill Wilkinson until his retirement at the end of 2023.
Sharmayne is an experienced finance professional with more than 21 years in financial management, research administration, and administrative strategic planning in higher education. Prior to working at Temple, she held leadership positions at University of Delaware and analyst positions at Johns Hopkins University, Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children and JPMorgan Chase. In her current position, Sharmayne manages financial and administrative activities in the law school, including fiscal oversight, budgeting, human resources, and office and administrative support functions.
