Professor Renée Tobin Named Dean of the Graduate School

Renée M. Tobin, PhD, has been appointed dean of the Graduate School. She will begin her new role on July 1. This revised position, formerly the vice provost role, has been reimagined to be consistent with peer institutions and to elevate the academic profile of graduate education.
Renée is a professor in the Department of Psychological Studies in Education in the College of Education and Human Development at Temple University. She previously served as chair of this department and as interim chair of the Department of Policy, Organizational, and Leadership Studies. As department chair, she collaborated with faculty to develop new graduate degree programs, update curricula, submit changes of array, and make decisions related to course offerings across graduate programs to increase enrollment and financial viability.
As an award-winning scholar, Renée’s research centers on promoting social-emotional development in youth, particularly in school settings. She has authored or co-authored numerous books and journal articles and currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Psychoeducational Assessment and the Journal of School Psychology. Prior to joining the faculty at Temple, she was a professor at Illinois State University (ISU). She earned an MS in Social Psychology and a PhD in School Psychology from Texas A&M University.
