The Class of 2030 is made up of 5,527 students, which represents a 2.8% increase in first-year enrollment over last year. In addition to new first-year students, Temple also welcomed 1,052 new transfer students, 1,298 new graduate (master and doctoral research) students and just over 800 new professional students.

Temple University was founded on the ideal that people from all walks of life deserve access to an excellent, affordable higher education that prepares them for careers, further learning and active citizenship.

Today, in 2026, that mission is alive and well, and it is reflected within the incoming Class of 2030, which is the largest group of first-year undergraduate students in Temple’s history. In total, the group is made up of 5,527 students, which represents a 2.8% increase in first-year enrollment over last year’s class.

“We are delighted to welcome the Class of 2030 to the Temple University family,” President John Fry said. “Their arrival on campus comes at a pivotal time in our history as we are in the beginning stages of the implementation of our strategic plan, Forward with Purpose. While it is terrific that so many bright and talented young people have chosen to pursue a Temple education, it is now up to us to do our part to set them up for success. We are eager to both support and empower these new Owls over the next several years, so they can meet their educational and professional goals and leave their mark on the world.”

This now marks the second straight year that Temple has welcomed the largest first-year class in its history. In addition to new first-year undergraduate students, Temple also welcomed 1,052 new transfer students, which represents a 13.9% increase over last year, as well as 1,298 new graduate (master and doctoral research) students and just over 800 new professional students.

Temple’s total enrollment, including its international campus and locations in Rome, Tokyo and Kyoto, now stands at 33,380, which is up 1% from last year.

The university’s growth is especially pronounced at Temple Japan (TUJ), which opened a second Tokyo location with the Hillside Center this fall. TUJ’s total enrollment is now 4,224, which represents a 19% increase from last year.

The Class of 2030 is also the first Temple class to pursue the entirety of their education at Temple Rome, which started offering four-year undergraduate degree programs from five of Temple’s schools and colleges this fall.

“The Class of 2030 represents an impressive group of bright, talented, disciplined students who immediately add to the richness of our institution,” said Temple Senior Vice President and Provost Elizabeth Wentz. “These students are already in a class of their own for their enthusiasm and optimism. I am truly excited about what each student brings to Temple as an individual. Whether they are in Philadelphia or at one of our global locations in Tokyo, Rome or Kyoto, these new students are ready to soar, and we are committed to their success.”

Represented within the Class of 2030 is a group of students who came from both near and far to pursue a Temple education. One thousand, two hundred and thirty-seven students in the incoming first-year class are from Philadelphia’s collar counties. Overall, first-year enrollment across the commonwealth is up 2.6% as 3,457 students are Pennsylvania residents.

The city of Philadelphia’s presence within the new class is strong, as well. Philadelphia residents account for 25.5% of the class (1,414 students in total), which represents a 5.9% increase over last year.

Out-of-state students make up 37% of the incoming class as 2,070 are from outside of Pennsylvania. This includes 187 international students who hail from 46 countries outside the U.S.

A total of 2,910 students (52.7%) from the class are Pell eligible, which represents a 7.8% increase over last year. Additionally, 2,802 students (50.7%) are first-generation students, a 5.3% increase from last year’s class.

As is always the case, every new student who arrives at one of Temple’s campuses will find themselves becoming part of a community that is ready to support them along their educational journey.

“Student success has been identified of the keystone priority of the strategic plan, and that is intentional,” said Evelyn Thimba, vice president for enrollment management. “While we celebrate the arrival of the talented group of students that we have in the Class of 2030, we also recognize that the important work starts now. Student success must be a university wide effort, and we are committed to doing all we can to ensure that every student feels welcomed, supported and seen.”
