Jennifer Wood named vice provost for faculty affairs

Jennifer Wood has been appointed vice provost for faculty affairs. She will begin her new role on October 1.

Arriving at Temple in 2007, Jen joined the Department of Criminal Justice in the College of Liberal Arts as an associate professor. In 2017, she was appointed professor and in 2022 became chair of the department. She is an accomplished, internationally recognized scholar, who focuses her work at the intersections of criminology, public health, regulation, and socio-legal studies. She has been actively involved in grant-funded research based in the United States and abroad, and she is an associate editor for the Policing and Society journal.

She has served on multiple university committees, including the promotion and tenure committee and the general education executive committee. Outside of Temple, Jen served on the Board of Directors of the Global Law Enforcement and Public Health Association and is currently a member on the Board of Directors at Pathways to Housing PA.

Prior to her roles at Temple, Jen was a research fellow at the Regulatory Institutions Network, College of Asia and the Pacific, Australian National University. She also served as a research associate and assistant professor at the University of Toronto. Jen received a Ph.D. and an M.A. in criminology from the University of Toronto and has a bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of Ottawa.
